Important Hikvision security notice

Hikvision have released a security alert regarding a large scale automated hack affecting Hikvision devices (NVRs, DVRs and IP cameras) with factory default or simple admin passwords. This only affects devices connected to the internet.

If a device is hacked the admin password is changed resulting in users being temporarily locked out. If this happens your CCTV supplier can obtain an unlock code from Hikvision and reset the admin password. There will be a service charge for this and the processing time from Hikvision could mean you are locked out of your CCTV system for several days.

We recommend you review your CCTV passwords and if you are using a simple password change it to a complex alpha-numeric password.

Remember you will also need to update any apps you use to remotely access your Hikvision device.
