No grey imports

We only install Hikvision cameras sourced through the offical New Zealand distribution channel which means as a customer you’ll receive full factory level support and access to the latest NZ market firmware updates. Hikvision builds many versions of each product which are all region coded meaning they will not work in all regions around the world. Parallel importers get around this by hacking the camera or NVRs firmware. If you buy parallel imported or grey market Hikvision cameras or NVRs you’ll run into problems if you ever attempt to update firmware as this may “brick” your device.

The other common issue we see with clients who have installed parallel imported equipment is resetting lost passwords. Hikvision cameras and NVRs no longer have a default admin password, instead you must set the password when the camera is initialised. This is great for security but if you lose or forget the password you’ll need to have it reset which will require the factory (via the NZ distribution channel) to issue a password reset code. The NZ distributors will not issue reset codes for parallel imported Hikvision product. Often the only option is to replace the product with an NZ region equivalent. Bearing in mind all equipment must be NZ region coded to work together – eg a Chinese region camera cannot be viewed on an NZ region coded NVR, if you lose the password to your parallel imported NVR you may have to replace not only the NVR but all cameras as well.
